Could you list other competitive bed bug control methods?

I got an idea to convert entire bed into a bed bug trap. Traditional methods require people working hard. My idea encourages bed bugs working hard, so that people can relax to achieve the goal we need.

To fight with bed bugs, traditional bed bug trap method is a wrong strategy because the number of new eggs may be larger than the number of trapped bugs. I believe that only a bed sized trap can eliminate the bugs because bed bugs can’t receive meal and lay new eggs.

A bed sized bed bug trap looks like a mattress cover. The appearance difference is that it has deeper depth than normal mattress cover. It is made from 5 pieces of fabric and the bottom side is open to the air. The top sheet is same size as the mattress. The depth of the trap at left, right, and foot sides is longer than the total thickness of mattress and box spring. The depth of the trap at head side is slightly shorter than the total thickness of mattress and box spring. Double sided sticky pest control tape is applied to the perimeter bottom of the trap. People can’t see or accidentally touch the sticky boundary which is below box spring and dangles in the air and is stuck to inside surface of the fabric trap (cover) at left, right, and foot sides. The sticky double sided tape is applied to the outside of the trap at head side. The trap is not washable due to adhesive boundary. A washable normal bedding sheet may cover the top of the trap. The trap is also suitable for hotels because guests may not notice any difference and the sticky coating is at inside surface of the trap.

To eliminate bed bugs, cover mattress and box spring by this trap; heat all of bedding materials in a dryer to kill bed bugs in pillows, blanket, etc; then put normal bedding materials on top of the trap. Apply an double sided adhesive tape to perimeter of headboard at a height near box spring. Guests may not notice the sticky tape on the headboard because it is below the top surface of the bed. If you doubt that the top of bed is infested, heating all of the bedding materials in a dryer again will solve the problem.

For most bed bug control methods, people seek bed bugs and kill every one. This is a difficult job. For this method, seekers are bed bugs instead of people, the hungry bed bugs even 20 feet away will not stay in their nest and seek possible routes to attack people; their hard work trying to approach people will finally trap themselves. Peoples’ easy job is to function as a lure and don’t let a blanket touch the floor.

Comparing this idea to mattress encasement / box spring encasement. It is obvious which one is better. The innovative trap alone can eliminate bed bugs with easy effort. The encasements don’t have this function, it needs additional professional services.

With this bed sized trap, one can expect “No more bed bug bite tonight” just by common sense because top of bed is bed bug free and all of bed bug attacking routes are confidently blocked. As a conclusion, with this idea, it easily gets rid of bed bugs because it encourages hungry bed bugs working very hard to trap themselves on the way of attacking people.

best and safest way to get rid of bed bugs is to mix some boron in water and spray the bed. this is deadly to the pests and safe to humans. you can find boron at any co-op. repeat this step each time you wash your sheets.

One of the most effective insecticicides for these critters is Ortho Seven- comes as afine powder and a water emissible emulsion liquid. Apply it around the eprimeter of the rooms- and inside shoe boxes you have cut holes in to let the little things in. they love darness- Okay, you have done all the right things, encased the mattress, set out stickey traps- double sided tape is no answer- not sticky enough. Set out what is called “scorpion” traps. Also, set these in boxes- holes cut, etc – they last longer and keeps pets out of them. heat is the bed bugs most dangerous thing- they do not live in temps above 120- I have successfully eradicated them with rented heaters- butane types, set all around- about three will do a house along with the home heater full high. This action must, of course, be supervised and the interior has to be kept at this temp for at least 8 hours. It’s not as hard as it may seem, but it takes a day. Remove anything that might be damaged by this heat, such as candles and wax decor. Also, empty closets and cabinets of piled linens, stored clothes, etc that might protect or insulate hidden areas. After the treament, keep all things in plastic for at least ten days. Before allowing any stored items bacdk into the house, run them through the dryer! Keep the Seven frsh, and check the traps often- That should do it.
