Noted arachnologist Rick Vetter says the Yellow Sac spider is not dangerous. Vetter spoke to nearly 700 PMPs at the North Carolina Pest Control Technicians School put together by the North Carolina Pest Management Association.

I was bitten on the foot by a small, pale yellow spider which got into my shoe. We captured it and clearly identified it under the microscope as a yellow sac spider. The bite went from a small, itchy white bump into a painful, black, open necrosis larger than a quarter and oozing bloody goo.The pain of it was significant. I had to have surgery to remove the damaged tissue, and it took almost 2 months for the wound to close. Go ahead and let one bite your demigod ass if you don’t believe me !
He’s an idiot. I got bitten by one a week ago or so and my leg has necrosis the size of a quarter. I live in NY and we don’t have recluses here. I caught the spider. Looked it up and found out it was the yellow sac spider! It in fact is dangerous. I’m proof!
I just got bit by one of these buggers the other night while watching TV in a dark room. I rolled over on him and he retaliated.
Two small puncture marks (now with white centers), Intense itch, burning and pain — spreading redness away from site; worse than when initially bitten. They are common here. It’s not the first time I’ve been bitten … probably won’t be the last.
I need to contact him please if you can…
