Explain how biological and autocidal control methods may overcome the disadvantages of using chemical pesticides.
Biological control- bringing some creatures that will eat pests
Autocidal control- sterilizing males with radiation so they do not fertilize eggs–> young do not hatch
Disadvantages of using chemical pesticides say in a kitchen, restaurant could be contamination of foods, using such pesticides in an environment where the public are or staff could require the area to be clear of people for a certain amount of hours, therefore a loss in business. Say for instance, in the control of Pharaoh ants if I were to spray the workers that return food to the queen and kill them, the queen is aware that they do not return and then produces another queen to satellite out and create a new nest, so what needs to be done in this treatment is for the queen to be sterilised by providing food for the workers to take to the queen instead of killing the workers outright.
