June 27th, 2010. In Katie’s garden there are 2 pests… the sow bugs… and the cabbage worms… Katie becomes part of an elite squad known as the “scared-o-pillars” unit which investigate the offenders. These are their stories… *boom boom*

@jihadacadien LOL k you got the same conclusions as I did in the end
Oh God that’s a bad one too! Oh I didn’t know those ate plants!? They might be eating the dead matter on the tip of the eaten plants. I suggests diotacemous earth. BTK has been proven to kill worms very effectively….but also seem to kill a lot of the good micro organisms in the earth. Oh and that green stuff may be the cattepillar’s poo.
Aww sorry about your plants
. BT works great though! You can use it a head of time to prevent the damage to. Keep an eye out for big white moths flying around your plants. Thats the adult cabbage moth.
I just did some research and watched a video about Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) which you mix with water and spray on the cabbage and other brasicas it is natural and organic and according the the lady in the gardening video she has use it for 30 years with great results. I’m off to get some.
Ick, Katie, that’s just gross
. I was going to say the jello-like globs might be slug egg clusters as that’s pretty much what they look like. But, if you found that many caterpillars, you probably guessed right. That is just a real disappointment. I understand because I lost my cauliflower in the same manner. Pull the worst of them and plant something else (but not cabbage).
Regards, Gary
Sorry about your cabbage ;(
Last year they got my broccoli and lettuces but this year I was more vigilant and caught em early… they only got one of my many lettuces. I just pulled it out and never saw anymore of them. Those things are so gross >.
i hate thoes liltle bugers .had some last year so far nothing . hope you got them all
Ah, ok, so its cater. poo. I thought it was some kind of egg nest or something… Oh my gosh I totally feel for you, I was squrming and about to up-chuck too. Not the cater. but the slimy stuff, lol.
But despite the pest problems, gardening usually is pretty fun
