Unboxing beneficial insects for the garden – Ladybugs, praying mantids & beneficial nematodes
Just got this in the mail and can’t wait to add it to our gardens! Bought off of Amazon.com, I was able to purchase ladybugs, beneficial nematodes and two praying mantis egg containers filled with between 50-200 praying mantid eggs. This is the first time I’ve ever ordered anything like this and I looking forward to the end result. I have to admitt though, having an organic garden has really limited the amount of pests I deal with. Yes it is still early in the season, however, it tok me a long time to even find any aphids on the leaves of all our plants! I know you need to keep that balance of good & bad bugs, but it sure seems like nature is taking care of itself currently in our garden.

@canaress oh I see. It could have been opened, but I think the package is listed as having insects inside.
@ArizonaAdventures cause in my country before they give the parcel they order to open it to see what is inside and in here they do not allow insects and stuff like that. thanks for the answer
@canaress don’t quite remember at the moment, why do you ask?
I want to know some thing, before you get your Parcel from the post did they open it or not??
@GameBandit98 You must of found mantids from another, newer egg sack. They usually hatch within 4-6 weeks from what I’m told. None the less, they are very cool arn’t they!
Oh wow yours hatched fast mine were hatched about a year after my mantis laid them
@pjm13000 I wanted to tell you that I just found what might be a hatched praying mantis from the eggs I recently bought
I made a video of it as well, hope you enjoy it and soon have some of your own
@pjm13000 very cool! The eggs I put outside will most likely hatch and leave before I can find them, however, I have put the second one inside a brown bag inside the home to be able to keep track of them. The package said sometime bewtween 4-8 weeks with an average of 6. I will let you know when I see any of ‘em
OMG you got ur eggs the exact same day i got mine March 11 please keep in touch with me and tell me how they are doing casue mine havent hatched yet how are yours?
@Helioforge Foam huh? what do you mean exactly? This is my first timie ever really dealing with praying mantis, so I’m not up to date on what forms they come in. I can’t wait for ‘em to hatch in our yard too. Sounds like fun!
We have preying mantis egg-foam in the yard, as well as garden spider eggs! Last year a garden spider was going around in circles, weaving a web, while a mantis watched! A half an hour later, both were gone, and never saw either again. The mantis probably ate the spider though!
I think the praying mantis would be really cool too! Look at all those ladybugs
@Donatellangelo Thanks
I’ve been looking forward to getting these items for some time now.
@nearthecity I found them on Amazon.com
@Donatellangelo I bought these from Amazon.com
what website did you order them from?
I’m laying the foundation for a garden as we speak, I’d like to do this. Where did you find these?
Sweet!
