I have a weird rash.?
About a week ago, I got a bunch of little red, spots on my arms. They itch and look like bites, so much so that I got pest control to inspect my apartment for bed bugs. They found carpet beetles and extensively fumigated my apartment, but no bed bugs. I went to the doctor and she said because they are only on my arms, she thinks it was probably an allergic reaction to something, but I haven’t changed anything in my routine, or got anything new, except a kitten (we already have one cat). She gave me something for itching and sent me home. Nothing new, but the spots grew bigger, scabbed over, then peeled and are now extremely red and almost perfectly round. I got ten new spots overnight last night and went back to the student health center. No one there knows what this is. There are about forty spots overall and all are only on the under side of my forearms. Help!

Sure wish you had included a few pictures, since dermatology is a visual science. But, without the benefit of seeing the rash, it’s certainly possible that you have developed either a fungal infection or a mite infection, since you now own a kitty. Kittens, more so than adult cats, can be carriers for both a fungus infection and mites. Why not see your local dermatologist so that he can determine if that’s what you have?
