Where would be the best place to install a bat house on your home?

I know it should be in at least 8 hrs of direct sunlight as they like warm nesting areas..but not sure how high on the home I should place it. I also heard they are good to cut down on insect population and we live near a pond with LOTS of mosquitos which they love. We frequently get bats in the summertime and love to come out at night and fly around. I hope I’m doing some good by investing in one
Also I bought this from Lakeside Collection and looks to be made of pine or something–it has a greenish residue and am wondering if it is waterproofing? I’m not sure if I should paint the bathouse to secure it more or leave it naked as is. The top of it has a metal roof.

Here, whichever one destroys the camp first without dieing, gets ranked to “knight”. :NOTE: I WENT THROUGH TOTAL HELL TO MAKE THIS. RECORDING AND EDITING WASN’T A BIG DEAL, BUT I HAD TO SEARCH EVERYWHERE FOR A FREE VIDEO EDITING PROGRAM LIKE WWM. PART 2 HAS NO RELEASE DATE YET BUT I’LL WORK ON IT WHEN I GET A CHANCE.

I live in Michigan and it is pretty cold outside and the cold weather must have drove a bat into my house.. My wife and I seen it last night in the main part of our home, unfortunately by the time I grabbed a towel and a can to catch it, it retreated into our basement. We use our basement for storage, so it is next to impossible to locate the bat, I tried for 2 hours last night and then again this morning. Is there any way to attract the bat and maybe trap it for a short bit until i can catch it and relocate it. I don’t want to harm the bat but i also don’t want it to get into my 7month old sons room, or any where near him. I already know about rabies and how to catch the bat so i really only am interested about attracting and trapping it, If its still in my house. Thank you..
