How to mount a bat house to a tree?

What is the most effective bat house design?
Posted by: | CommentsI want to build a bat house but am curious to the most effective or most beneficial design. I am leaning toward building the “rocket” design but wonder if there are any bat enthusiasts out there that think a different design is better. I have seen the traditional wide and flat type and have even recently seen a “bat can.” I was going to use untreated cedar fence wood from Home Depot.
Natural Wildlife Friendly Backyard Ideas?
Posted by: | CommentsWe’re moving to the country and we don’t have a lot of land, but some. We want to attract and maintain a natural wildlife friendly backyard. We’ve considered a bat house, hummingbird feeder, squirrel feeders, bird feeders, and maybe even a purple martin house. We live in Central Missouri. Any ideas on what else we may be able to successfully maintain? Or just awesome ideas for our new backyard and garden?
