Have A Beautiful Pond, Fire Ants Have Taken Over How Do I Get Rid Of Them Without Harming My Fish?

The fire ants are located next to the water…I have live koi and comets. None of the fireant chemicals can be used close to water so i am in a dilema

get a big bag of diatamacious earth at a pool outlet—put the diatom around the nest—it will not harm dogs cats or fish—it cuts the bugs up and if they crawl thru it it kills them. Or you can get a small can of diesel oil, pour a small amt on the ant hole and drop a match on it — they will move.
fire ants can be a real problem,to protect your pond,i would suggest a trap for this.see source.
Dump bags of ice on the nests. Repeat for a few days. Dump more bags on the new nests. They’ll leave the area eventually.
lesco makes a granular bate that is taken back to nest, just be careful around the water and make sure its not going to rain the for a couple of days after applacation
