After Being In My Home For 7 Months I Am Seeing Roaches All Of A Sudden?

It has rained for 2 weeks straight here in OK , now that it has stopped I am seeing roaches in my kitchen. In my 50 years I have never had them. Could it be from all the rain and what can I do to quickly get rid of them.

Chances are the seller or landlord exterminated shortly before you moved in so there were no cockroaches for a while. Get some Combat roach gel from Home Depot or Lowes (it’s less than $10) and use it according to the package directions. It’s very effective and will kill the roaches and their young’uns.

I saw an infomercial about something called the RiddexPlus. It is a device that plugs into your regular wall socket, and send a certain current through the walls via the wiring in your house which keeps everything from roaches to rats out. I’m not sure if it works but it’s cheap. I have a roach problem, but I live in a house built in the 30′s with many palms trees on the property. In fact my area is called Palm Blvd! The roaches nest in the palms, so if you have palms I would highly suggest keeping them as clean as possible. Keep the pruned and that should help. The boric acid is a good idea, but what my grandma has done is simply mop the floors using plain water with sea salt mixed in. She always says the salt keeps the pets away. Hope you are cured soon!

If you have been in this home for 7 months now. Chances are the treatment that the sellers applied to the house have now worn off. The real bad news is typically once they are there they are there to stay. Especially if your living near a river etc. and it is an older house.
Control is all you can do to keep the numbers down.

Yes,the rain has brought them to your door.
Call in the pest control if you have one locally, or go to Hardware store for advice on what to buy to get rid of them.
Keep all food stuff in containers and out of reach from the work surfaces.
Spray the areas with bleach and it may sound odd but any mint toothpaste around areas you don’t want them and the smell drives them away!
    Tempory until you get treatment!
    Good Luck x

Too humid, too hot and too dusty. The cockroach is not dirty per sé, but the conditions are favorable. Clean in hard to reach spaces, behind stoves, washing machines, fridges and freezers. On top of that a good insecticide and you got the problem licked. One or two are not a problem, and will keep the area clean of dust. (Dust = 90% dead human skin cells).
    Peace.

get boric acid in powder form. you can get it at walmart. if you don’t have pets, line it all throughout the edges of your walls and under your sinks and any cracks they could get through. they probably went to your house to stay dry and decided they’d like to live with you! sorry for your problem. this helped for my parents…
