We had to rake leaves away from our house as we have no grass really, and then we spread Boric acid bought from local farmers co-op all around outside the house. Of course every now and then for a very short time we found them dead inside, but it lasted from last fall til now, i have to get more this wekend! thanks for reminding me lol. i am with you, i am all about totally anihilating them, they are gross and water bugs are the worst.

in all holes and cupboards spray raid. put roach motels that advertise that it kills the ones in the nest too. buy powder insecticide for roaches and line underneath the lower cabinets, behind toilets, fridge and along inconspicuous baseboards. Anywhere you have seen roaches, put the poisons. clear dead leaves and damp areas from around the home. trim tree branches that are low to the roof. seal any outside holes. if you have a basement, cellar, or attic. put extra attention on these areas. diatomaceous earth should be spread all around the property in out-of-the-way areas. this stuff is made of the exoskeletons of diatoms (small algae things) it dehydrates insects that come into contact with it. it can be used outside and the rain won't lessen the effectiveness. DO NOT breathe it, so cover your nose & mouth when dispersing it. boric acid is a known roach deterrent. it can be spread around as well, but not outside. do a roach bomb- follow the instructions accordingly. at the asian market near my house they sell 2 things: a cardboard box that has a roach attractant that they go in and get stuck to. it is sticky and has cartoon roaches on the outside of the box. they also have roach insecticide chalk. it is in a small bright orange box with roach picture on it and only has chinese letters but you draw lines with the 'chalk' around the counter top cracks and in drawers with it. peppermint oil is also a natural roach deterrent. when you see any roach eggs, smash them. see... i got a roach phobia.. i did extensive research over the years for all remedies against roaches.

Try traps but I have bad news for you my friend. Even after the end of the world roaches will still be here. So you can use the traps to get them out of your sight but they will still be in your walls hiding....

Move.
But if that's not an option, then take some pepermint oil (available at your local health food or natural food store) and spread it around your baseboards. That will keep them out.
Do that after you totally bomb your house. Good luck!

You did not indicate where you live, but if you live in the US and the state you live in, allows you to purchase a product called Dursban, then this will get rid of the bugs. In Texas the product is sold under the Sprectracide label and comes in a concentrate. Dilute whatever you buy to a 1/2 percent concentration, and spray around baseboards, under washer and dryer, and under the sink. Chances are you have roaches in food storage areas as well. In this case you will need to remove all the food, and spray only in the corners of the shelves where they meet the walls. Keep the food away from the shelf for a couple of days and then put it back.
Also spray around door openings and any penetrations into the house from the outside
This product is the same stuff a professional exterminator will use, and therefore in some states the exterminator lobby has made it unavailable to the public.
One other thing...this product is degrade in natural light over time, so you will need to re-apply every few months.
It should go without saying....don't use it around your pets.
