Help Me Make This Disicion About Birth Control Please! Ten Points To The Best!?

so i got on depo provera about 5 months ago . i’m 17 and am sexually active, you can lecture me all you want that i’m too young, i dont care what you think, i’m sexually active with one guy that i have been with for a year and a half, but i noticed weight gain on depo and it really really bothers me. and i know its pretty hard to find a birth control that doesn’t have weight gain on the side effects list.. it’s just i now weigh 140 pounds when i used to be 130 and i’m 5’9′. i know weight gain is better then getting pregnant for sure, because condoms never work out, sex doesnt feel as good with condoms and i know we’d wind up saying ‘lets just pull out’ which is 0% accurate.. so i don’t know what to do. this weight gain just really bugs me. BUT, on depo my skin is literally perfectly clear, and my boobs grew to a C when i was a B . which is good, but i’d honestly rather have a flat stomach.
do you know of any birth control pills that DON’T have weight gain as a side effect?? if you do tell me.
or any other advice?

Ten pounds is not a lot. 5’9″ and 140 is certainly not fat. Depo really does sound like a good bc method for your age and your situation. Many doctors advise against any kind of IUD before you have had a pregnancy. You should talk to the doctor who prescribed your Depo and discuss your problems with it. But minimal weight gain, clear skin, bigger boobs, and great sex with a long term boyfriend…hmm…sounds pretty O.K. to me.

You might ask your doctor about getting a copper IUD. They have no hormones and can be left in for up to 10 years. One negative side-effect is heavier, longer periods.

My doctor said the same thing that he would not do an IUD before you had a pregnancy so that probably isn’t an option for you. There are several low dose hormone birth control pills that are better for weight gain issues. One called Yaz is particularly good for that problem. I had the same problem with the Depo shot and started taking Yaz and the weight gain stopped. I have a copper IUD now but if I wasn’t able to use that I would go back to Yaz. You should ask your doctor about it.

well i never took depo because of how i knew ppl gain weight from them..no birth control guarantees no weight gain. The reason u gain weight from birth control is because ur body is being tricked by the hormones to think ur pregnant..so thats where the weight gain comes from. Suxx huh! U jus have to ask ur doc wut other ones can u take..as for IUDs docs dont prescribe that if u have had a baby yet…im on microgestin (generic version of loestrin) and i havent gained weight or had any crazy side effects like i did on yaz. I gained 11 lbs from yaz
