my dog sniff for mice constantly?

on xmas eve 2007 (a year ago) my dog chased a mouse through my kitchen, we had pest control come in and put down poison all around the house but since then he spends a fair few hours a day sniffing in corners and at the fire place looking for the mouse but we dont have them anymore, i put mouse traps down when it started and haver left them down and have never caught, seen or even heard another since then but he still sniffs around for them and it is not what you would call normal the way he does it either, he will even sit in the corner and lick the skirting board. i am 99 % sure that i dont have a mouse problem at the minute
he is a patterdale terrier and gets plenty of exercise
Your dog could be smelling mice scent even if you are not catching or seeing any mice. Is he by chance a terrier or terrier mix?
Sounds like your dog needs a job. Training and exercise can be fun for you and the dog.
it is a natural instinct to chase rodents once they see or smell them and the hunter in ur pooch is coming out.. my dogs are the same way and squirrrels,rabbits and even birds get my 3 going and they are on the chase.
