Name That Bug…?

By paco

These ugly beetle-like looking insects keep appearing in my bath tub. Sometimes when I am showering… Eeek! They are brown, about an inch in lenth, and have long antenaes. I am positive they are crawling up from our basement which has been cool and damp, conditions they seem to like. Anyone have any ideas what they are called?

Are they sort of flat, and segmented, and the antenaes stick out flat?
If so, it’s probably a silverfish. These little pests are actually really common, and an exterminator should be able to take care of them for you. They like damp dark places, and they eat the glue in bookbindings and wallpaper, so they’re really not good to have around. I’d suggest trying to get rid of them. But they won’t do you any physical harm, they don’t bite!

Beetle like? Sounds like it might be Paul or Ringo. John and George are dead.

Are you sure they’re not roaches? EEK If so, get a professional exterminator asap.

Some sort of beetle, or more likely a cockroach (long antennae). Here’s a link to 5 pages of photos.
