White Clusters on Plant Stems: Flowering or Insects?

Though I did notice that there were some white clusters on the stems of the spinach plants. These clusters were forming around the part where the leaves are coming off of the stems. I also noticed an insect on the plant as well around the clusters. At this point, it’s hard to tell whether it’s insect larvae or that the plant is attempting to go to seed. I had an aphid infestation last year, so it wouldn’t be totally out of the question. I’ll continue to monitor the plant to see what happens. What do you think these white clusters can be? We have these tiny flying insects that are white and look like tiny peices of lint or dust. They came out of nowhere. What are they?
They are located outside. I looked up termites and didn’t see anything similar. They are white lint looking with wings and are flying all around outside of the house. Could they have anything to do with bamboo tree’s?

Or are these from apple, peach, pear and cherry seeds I planted and of which are now like 3 inches tall ?
I over watered a planter and later looked at the soil which is a mix of planters mix and local soil and saw transparent worms ? crawling all over the place. And also saw these insects which look like gnats, no-see-ums we call then here at southwest Alaska. Anybody got an idea of what these are and how to rid of them besides leaving the plants and planters outside to freeze and die ?

Killed some insects, felt guilty?

I’m a follower of the Hindu religion, and so I tolerate bugs, insects, flies, mosquitoes, gnats, etc. But today, while me and my friends were messing around with some water balloons and a gardening hose, I ended up swatting at a few insects that were resting on me, killing some in the process. Not to mention the numerous others that I may have killed by leaving the hose on the grass.

I feel guilty/terrible. What should I do?
