Why the Indoor Spider Webs?
Posted by: | CommentsI don’t mind spiders. They are very beneficial creatures. They kill insects.
My home is bug free. But sometimes I notice a Daddy Long legs will build a web in my home. Why would a spider do than other than I live in a great neighborhood LOL.
They can’t get any bugs to eat so won’t the spider starve?
I know this question is creepy to some of you…but what is your favorite spider? And why?
Posted by: | CommentsMine is Argiope. They’re so docile and BIG. Plus the perform a great service in catching and eating insects. I get them in my garden every year.
How to get rid of spider mites that crawl randomly in the house?
Posted by: | CommentsI never see them in the garden. I have roses, daisies and fruit trees – maybe I should look more carefully. But there are hundreds of spider mites appearing randomly in random parts of the house, even in places far far away from the garden. I’ve sprayed the roses with insect (incl mites) spray last week, and I still get the mites in the house. I can’t find any solutions to clear the mites in the house and can’t find the source of the mites out of the house. Please help!
Getting rid of spider mites from portulaca?
Posted by: | CommentsI have seen several of what I believe are red spider mites in my outside pot of portulaca. Most things I have read suggest blasting the mites off of the plant with a spray of cold water.
I have a few problems with this, the first being that portulaca is delicate and I’m not sure it would take that sort of physical beating very well. The second is that they have recently gotten over some sort of mold thing and I worry about them getting too wet. Thirdly, all the literature that I have read on the matter suggest spraying the lower regions of the plant and the undersides of the leaves where the mites make their nests. My issue with this is that portulaca is a very low sort of rock garden looking plant, and besides which their leaves aren’t broad and don’t have much of an underside.
Lastly, there has been a sudden appearance of a collection of lady bug larvae there (I have counted
and I certainly don’t want to blast them away.
So I was wondering if anyone had any useful tips, including whether or not I can just leave them and hope that the baby lady beetles will take care of it.
Thanks!
Will using daconil, a common fungicide, kill spider mites?
Posted by: | CommentsOr is it strictly a fungus attacker? I am getting ready to try to rid my garden of some blights and other fungis and want to be sure that it will not kill insects. I have something separate for that purpose.
