help ! tiny red spider crawling all over my rose plants, cob web everywhere. i bought those book of roses but the red spider are not in the list of diseas/bugs list ?
methalion doesnt work either.
and some small white color flies as well, the book mentioned “green fly” can be green or red color , but didnt mention white? so it is not “green fly?
sorry not “methalion” but Malathion.

Best answer:

Answer by mtngrl7500
I don’t really know much about bugs on flowers, but if they are red spider looking ones, they could possibly be aphids.

Question by Spanky Gazpacho DW: Smoke Alarms: Can spider webs set them off?
I’ve installed the latest gadgets in my “smart house”… computer programmed power points, lighting and audio systems.. with integrated smoke, thermal alarms and security alarms.

Well last night… around midnight an alarm sounded… The way I have it programmed, all 130 light fittings come on and flash on then off at 1 second intervals … 2 x 120db sounders make a din inside, a flashing light and alarm bell sounds outside. I mean, it is real noisy.. enough to wake the dead, and my neighbours… so I leap out of bed naked, grab my cricket bat on the way through the house looking for smoke or intruders… get to the alarm panel and key in the code. Silence. darkness. No smoke and no intruder.

Back to bed. 20 minutes later, this process repeats. I climb back to bed. 5 seconds later… same again… I turn on the lights.. check the alarm memory…. it’s the smoke detectors.

And then I see it… a little spider and it’s spider web shimmering near a smoke detector. I squash him.
Thermal detectors detect heat… smoke detectors react to the movement of smoke like particulates in the air refracting off whatever light is available.

Best answer:

Answer by Beetle
Those detectors are way too sensitive.

Hi there,
I was up late at night and went to the washroom and find something crawling right under the sink of the bathroom. It was HUGE and I freaked out and couldn’t kill since it was really fast and all. I figured it out that it was a Scutigera / house centipede.

I’ve googled it and found out that Scutigera / house centipedes are actually beneficial to human since they eat spider, cockroaches, pests etc.

So, I tried to think that Scutigera / house centipedes are not the ones to kill, but to just let them live in my house since I LOATHE spiders and other gross insects.

But the thing is,

isn’t spider beneficial to human too? According to 90% of the info I’ve found, spiders are beneficial to human too since they eat insects and pests too!

Now I don’t know what to do….

Should I kill Scutigera / house centipedes?
or
Should I kill the spider?

Also,

I live in a basement and it’s pretty cold even in May right now.

Does Scutigera / house centipedes come into houses that are cold? Wikipedia say Scutigera likes cold, damp, and dark places (which is a perfect condition for most of the basement….) but I wonder if they come in even in like summer (since there is air conditioning) and in winter (since its warmer than outside).

I don’t know if I should make my room cold or warm….. man, I’m just confused.

PLEASE PLEASE help me out!

Every once in a while I wake up with these strange bites on my leg. Here’s what I’ve observed:
1.They are just on my legs and not on any other part of my body (just my left one at the moment), there’s about 5-7 bites, and they look and feel like spider bites, but I’ve never had so many that close to each other (all on one leg, and some are right next to each other).
2. My boyfriend never gets ANY bites and he sleeps right next to me.
3. This doesn’t happen every night, I wake up about once a week, or less often, with a new set of 5-7 bites on one leg.
4. I live in Colorado and my apartment is in a basement.
Does anyone know what these are? I’ve never had to deal with bed bugs before, could it be bed bugs? Or a couple unhappy spiders?
Please let me know! Thank you!

Here is a quick video of a large “Daring” jumping spider I found in my yard. I didn’t want to accidentally kill her while weeding, so I put her in a container and fed her a cricket. From what little I know, she is of the Salticidae family (Jumping Spiders), genus Phidippus (due to the green “chelicerae”), Species audax (I think), but I don’t know much more than that. Apparently there are a few thousand different types, so, yeah. She has a black body color with two very small white spots and one large white spot on her abdomen in a triangular formation. Her body length is a bit less than 1/2 an inch. Due to species spread by flower/food/etc shipping, she probably isn’t a native of southern California. FYI, I’ll be releasing her later today, so don’t get your eco/peta-panties in a wad. Sorry for the poor quality of the video, I wasn’t exactly expecting to shoot a movie today.

First of all, no I’m not going to kill it. It’s an ordinary yellow, black garden spider who has built her web in one of our windows and she has 2 egg sacs. I read an article that when it gets colder they die out and it’s already turning real cold outside. This is the first one I have seen in this area and would like to keep her, they are great at getting rid of annoying insects. I was wondering if I brought her inside, would she live until next spring when I could release her? Of course, it’s getting colder and insects will be scarce….so what would I feed her?
Yes, some of you probably think I’m nuts, but that’s ok. I just want serious answers to this question. Thanks.
I wasn’t planning on messing with the egg sacs, they will hatch in the spring. I’m just sad that she will be dying soon and that’s why I want to bring her inside.
The latest update is….it got really rainy, windy, and cold and plus she was getting rather thin. So, I took her and placed her in a bucket and she seems quite content, she’s built a web and let’s me feed her. However, I know she would still be guarding her egg sacs if I didn’t move her, so I will put her back in the window next week.
