I was going to ask a handyman to repair that, unless it’s termites or ants.
This pillar is about 11 years old, and is supporting the front patio of a rental house. It sounds hollow like the others ones, although none of the others show any exterior sign of degradation at all (for now).
Group of termites found in my bedroom, should I call for professional help?
Posted by: | CommentsI found group of dead and live termites by my window sill. Do I need to worry and call a professional?
They were inside my house, NOT outside. Also there were some dead ones scattered on the floor.
I think it’s carpenter ants, but could it be termites?
Posted by: | CommentsI’m almost positive that it is carpenter ants because we have kind of been having ant infestations for years and we see them around even though we spray. But there are piles of would dust in this one spot in our basement and in certain places on the outside of our house. Is this a common thing for carpenter ants to do? Are termites the same way? Is there much of a difference between the two?
Will carpenter ants do as much damage as termites do if this doesn’t get taken care of?
Please answer as many questions as you can.

Beneficial Nematodes, termites, and ants?
Posted by: | CommentsHas anyone used beneficial nematodes to kill ants or termites? Specifically Steinernema Feltiae and Heterohabditis Bacteriophora. I was looking for something to kill ants in my vegetable garden that wouldn’t poison the soil or us and I like to go environmentally friendly when I can. The gardening website also stated that the nematodes also kill termites and I have them eating my house but don’t want to use the commercial guys with their pesticides.
