Well, I want to know if they are dangerous and if i should be concerned about them? How do I keep them out? And anything else you could offer.

Also, could they be any other type of ant? What are the possibilities, should I still be concerned? etc.

And if it helps, I like in Atlantic Canada, near a lake. We have paved roads, but no sidewalks or paved/bricked driveways. Also, it can get up to 30 degrees celsius in the summers. Recently it’s been between 12-22 degrees celsius.

Recently we decided to do a little home renovation, nothing much, we put new carpet in one room and installed a vanity table in another. Nothing too drastic or anything. Anyway, all of a sudden we began seeing TONS of carpenter ants. Everywhere I look I see one scurrying away, and hurry to squish it (because it seems to be the only way the kill them). Anyway, I was wondering if there’s a non-expensive way to kill them for good. Starting tomorrow I’m declaring full-out war on the little bastards (a.k.a. I’m going to start carrying around a can of ant spray). I want the little bastards out of my house. Now. Any help?

Question by Melissa: I put “roach motels” out months ago, and now I’m finding them on their backs?
I recently moved into a new house, which has roach problems, so I put the roach “motels” around the house a few months ago (I think the brand was Combat??). They didn’t seem to help at ALL, but now months later I am finding half dead (but still moving!) cockroaches on their backs all over the house. Is it a delayed affect of the poison or is there something like a gas in my house that I should be worried about? Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by Dan
maybe the roach motels didnt have any vacancy left

Question by Monica: Why does “The Other Woman” get mad when the guy doesn’t want them?
I get really annoyed when a girl that the guy is cheating with realizes that the guy doesn’t want her and loves his real girlfriend better and that the other girl is just physical, she likes to play victim and act like he’s the bad guy, when she was just as much involved as he was. A lot of people say it’s not always the other woman’s fault, but really it is. Sure, the guy should have kept it in his pants, but those tramps knew what they were getting into. You mess with a hornets nest, expect to get stung. Then they have the nerve to tell the woman the guy’s with that he slept with her like she’s so guilty, but is just mad because she unsuccessfully stole the girl’s man.

Best answer:

Answer by Saved By Grace
I don’t think either person is more at fault than the other in those situations. The girl knew what she was doing, and she set herself up for being the tramp on the side. But the man was being an ass, and he was just as much at fault. And personally, I don’t think a guy like that deserves a happy relationship.

Question by melody: Is painting a lime solution on trees necessary to protect them from insects?
I live in Guatemala. Here people have a passion for painting things white, including rocks, telephone poles, curbs, and tree trunks. They paint with a lime solution that looks like white paint but rubs off on everything. I don’t like the way it looks, I prefer to leave rocks and trees natural, but I am told that it is necessary to paint about a meter up on all tree trunks “to protect them from bugs”. I think the gardeners just want job security. And I have yet to figure out why cement telephone poles need the same protection.

Best answer:

Answer by stogen
This is an age old custom of painting the trunks of trees to help the plant. First you have to think that the 2 ft. off the ground is not going to stop the insects from attacking certain plants or trees or yes, telephone poles. Even as a young man growing up in the southern states, i’ve asked that question. Aside from their thinking of protecting the plants, it was also a designation of marking a location, better visibility at night and to mark certain landmarks. Somehow we have taken that as a custom of protecting trees which seems a bit far fetched.

What do you think? Answer below!
