]]> I have gotten bitten by horses flies a ton before, but I got bitten yesterday and the swelling is unusually awful. Usually its quite small, but this time it is like a large welt, its about the size of 3 or 4 mosquito bites put together. It bled a little when I got bitten too, but that normally happens with horse flies. And (I don’t know if its relevant or not) I had a fever all day today, and still don’t feel to great.

Do horse flies carry diseases? Maybe Im allergic… Or am I over reacting? I am positive it was a horse fly, I killed it on the spot LOL

And what do you do to keep them at bay? It seems regular fly spray just does not do the trick. Poor Koda and Zoso have three or four on them at ALL times. I kill them but they are relentless! They are driving me mad!! Any good tips to get rid of them? (besides eliminating poop and stuff, Ive done that).

For the BIG horse flies? There is a difference between regular fly and horse fly.

It itches, but I have not been scratching, just applying benodryl (sp?) cream on it. It still has gotten pretty big, and is sort of bruise colored…. wierd.
we have those here too, but not near as all over everything lol
OH! No wonder we are practically infested, the whole area is a swampy type area, with a large stream running right through the pasture.

All those diseases sound….lovely….. I sure hope I dont have ecoli.

]]> I’ve tried giving them different fruits and veggies (including broccoli, carrots, oranges, green beans, cucumbers, and lettuce) and even worms (I read somewhere they’ll eat those) and they don’t seem to want to eat. I’m pretty sure they’ve been drinking the water i give them because they bob there heads in it sometimes. I admit i have not bought any food from actual animal care stores for them, but i figured they would eat house-hold things. Is there something else i should try or should i just buy some turtle food?

P.S. I’m not 100% sure they have not been eating
I found out one of the problems is that they’re tongues require them to eat under water

]]> Ok so I was planning on getting a sugar glider but I have a lot of questions. I was planning on using a pelleted food called Sunseed Vita Sugar Glider Formula. As it said on the package I will use the pelleted food for 50% of the glider’s daily intake. On the package it specifically said Sugar Gliders have unique dietary requirements. While this prepared food is an excellent base diet, it should only make up about 50% of your pet’s daily intake. The balance of the diet should consist of approximately 40% fresh vegetables (such as dark, leafy vegetables, sweet potatoes, and carrots), and 10% fruits (melons, apples, and bananas). The addition of small mealworms, wax worms, and crickets are also recommended. For the line that says to add bugs, is it really necessary to? I’m assuming it is for protein so instead can I feed it something like boiled chicken? I myself have no problem with bugs, but my parents do. Do I have to feed them live insects? What exactly are bonding pouches? Should I take my sugar glider with me everywhere? Like to parties? What time do sugar gliders wake up? Thanks!
EDIT: Sorry for not clearing up on this but by parties I mean going to houses of my parent’s friends. It is generally quiet (nobody yells) and calm.
