SMALL HIVE BEETLES, Hive Beetle trap filling, installing on honey bee hives.Video,Georgia Beekeeper John Pluta installing Small Hive Beetle traps into beehives.CLICK for more at georgiabees.blogspot.com Controlling small hive beetle numbers lowers beehive stress, possible CCD,a colony collapse disorder symptom Ga Beekeeping hive beetle control. Beekeepers MUST kill the adult small hive beetles before egg and larva stage. Larvae eat thru honey comb in search of bee pollen making honey leak and ferment, called sliming. Bees then abscond from hive leaving a sticky mess even other bees barely rob. To clean up I put boxes over ant mounds to begin removing crud, then a few days in the sun to dry up honey slime. This is going to be a major beekeeping problem if not controlled in states like Florida,Georgia,North South Carolina,Alabama,Mississippi,Tennessee and Louisiana. Other states Will get them, forget cold weather, they winter at edge of honeybee cluster just fine.
We decided to show how we made a 5 gallon bucket mouse trap. From start to finish. Making the trap, catching the mice and then releasing them. We were using the traditional mouse snap traps and noticed that the mice were taking the bait from them. I remembered this trap from when my father in law used it in his house. I figured it would be neat to show the process. There are a few other videos of this trap on youtube with some other variations. I thought we would show the way we made it.

Question by Dorothy M: Does anyone have the rules to a dice “mouse” game played with corks on string & a big lid “trap”?
This game was played on the floor with 2 dice, a large mat with a large circle on it and small ones around the inside perimeter, small corks attached to string, a large lid “trap” with handle & pennies. Each person was given the same number of pennier & put their cork “mouse” on a place in the circle drawn on the mat. One player held the lid trap in one hand & threw 2 dice with the other. When certain numbers were rolled, the thrower tried to trap the mice with the lid, while the remaining players tugged their mice to safety. Any mouse caught had to pay a penny. Dice thrower would also try to fake out players, and if they pulled their mouse out on wrong numbers, they had to pay a penny. If dice thrower put the trap down by mistake, he had to pay a penny to everyone who didn’t pull out. When snake eyes (?) were rolled, the dice passed to the next player. Winner was one with most pennies at end of game.
