Chapter 9: Trapped

I chased it down. How couldn’t I have seen this before? It’s a sign. Everywhere I went it followed me. I stopped in the middle of a clearing. Trees surrounded me. The black beetle I was pursuing passed me by. They came from the front part of the forest, behind me and even above. More and mare started appearing, then millions of them. I was being surrounded. It was as if I was in a beehive with bees, only I was about to be killed. They started circling around me like a tornado. Having a hard time breathing, I fell to my knees. The beetles were taking the oxygen away from me. I felt my throat getting stronger as if I was being drowned underwater. With debris flying everywhere, It was hard to see because sand was getting in my eyes. With my vision blurred I spotted the beetles turning into a human form. My face was motionless and fear soared through my veins. I knew my life was about to flash before my eyes. Either they had their own mind or they were being controlled. It turned human but I couldn’t tell who it was. It didn’t matter if I knew, because my first thought was that it was going to kill me. It crept closer and closer. It took much of my strength to look up and within a few seconds his face was inches from mine. He wore a black leather coat and blue jeans. He looked oddly familiar but I couldn’t scope him out. He opened his eyes and they were bright yellow. “Hello there ???” it said in a monstrous voice. How did he know my name? Still trapped in the beetle dome I felt helpless. ”I have only one motive leading you here,” it sounded serious. “I want to destroy you.” My heart skipped a beat as if he attacked me with a knife to my lungs. He raised his left hand and the beetles around us disappeared. My throat opened back up and I was holding my chest. Coughing, I was trying to get the ball I felt inside my breathing tube out. “Let this be a warning to you ???,” he chuckled at my warfare. Regaining my breath, I was inflamed. I stood and with my fuming power when I was angry I attacked it with fire shooting out my hands. It went right through him and he laughed. I was astonished because it hit him directly. He was constructed of beetles. I left a hole through his stomach and right before my eyes he recuperated his missing part. “You’re a weakling” he teased,” our father was wrong, you will never be a match for me!” my eyes widened. “Our father?” I shouted,” he’s dead!” My vision came quickly and it was Elijah, the quietest kid in my class that was bullied and others never paid attention too. Him my brother? No way! “He’s not dead,” he assured me, “now stay out of my way or else! No one, not even you will stop me from turning these people into mindless zombies that always bullied and thought less of me” He threatened. I was stunned. A tear fell from my left eye. He might be lying to me about my dad. He made it clear he was my enemy after all. I was abstained at the fact that my father was alive. If he was alive why did he leave me and my mom? So many questions I would ask him. How would of my life been if he never left? My enemy was getting to me. I looked up at him angered because he was messing with my emotions and shouted. I turned gold with a white glow that outlined my body. Dark clouds appeared over head. Bursts of electricity came to the fore from my mouth and my hands. “Ahhhhh!” Lightning was coming down and it was terminating the environment around me. I was the source of electricity. The yellow shockwaves went straight to him but he rapidly dissolved into beetles. Then they spread out and retreated. Controlling my self I stopped being like the discharged battery that I became, and freely gave up under the influence of gravity. I settled on the ground paralyzed, with my eyes closed and a smirk on my face. The sky cleared and the sun was revealed. The scent of burnt tree bark encompassed the forest. I was excited that my father was still alive. I slept and rested to my thoughts and my experience to my relative enemy. So he said. Protecting these people, my friends and family has to be my main priority. I was becoming a hero after all.
