Three have survived, I have two and one I gave to a friend.
The biggest one is over a foot high, I expect they will grow a bit faster now Summer is here; especially once we get some decent rainfall.
Mameys grown from seed can take eight years to bear fruit, so we have a few years to wait yet!

Can u update on how the sapotoes are growing again.

It depends how cold the temperature gets in Winter. I believe Mameys grow well in Southern Florida, but Florida has a sub-tropical climate.
If it gets too cold for them in Winter, they will die.
Maybe if you had a warm, sheltered micro-climate they would grow, but I think they might need some protection in the cooler months.

@fruitbatanne How about California in the spring?

And in terms of climate, the Mamey Sapote needs a Sub-tropical or Tropical climate to bear fruit; so lots of rain and sunshine.
Although if you had a warm house you could grow one indoors in a cooler or drier climate; the plant would not grow big enough to fruit, but may make an attractive houseplant.

If the seed has already got a sprout coming from it, it has already started to germinate, so is more likely to grow into a baby tree.
The Mamey seeds need to be planted straight away after you have eaten the fruit; you can keep them viable for a few days by keeping them moist, but if they dry out, they probably will not germinate.
Good seeds should look ‘fat’ for their size, and look glossy and healthy.
    I hope this helps.

How do you know if the seed is a good one? Does it have to be an exact size/color. Please reply. Oh, and does the climate have to be a certain one.

Hi, they’ll send up shoots faster if you plant them with the tap root going down or at least on the side.

Four of the Sapotes are doing really well and are about seven or eight inches high with several leaves; the others are yet to emerge!
I just got some Mameys in New York City, but will not be able to take the seeeds home to Australia.
    Wishing you a Beautiful Day.

Yes, the Chocolate Sapote is the same as Black Sapote. I do have a video on Chocolate Sapotes on my channel.
I have two baby Guanabana trees, but they have not fruited yet, and I love the fruit too; Thank you for the information on them.

    Dear Michele ♥
The White Sapote are between 6–7 feet tall, and it has taken them about 4 years to grow this big.
They have not flowered yet, though.
In the right climate seedling Mameys will take about 7 years to fruit; grafted ones will generally fruit earlier.

Our property is about 3600 square yards.

Wishing you a Fruitful Day ♥

if your compost smells, you may need to add more card and paper or twigs between any grass clippings, so the compost does not get too wet and slimy Also it may not be getting enough air in it, you may need to turn the compost regularly.
If compost is smelly, often it just needs the mix of green, fruit, and brown(cardboard, bark, twigs) in the compost bin tweaking and changing a little. So add higher or lower ratios.

The Mamey seeds were already sprouting in the fruit! The ones I planted that were not already sprouting have yet to germinate.
I have two White Sapotes, grown from seed; I just planted them in plant pots outdoors.
If the fruits have been chemically treated, it can stop the seeds being viable. Also the seeds need a certain level of warmth after planting, I would suggest keeping the pots indoors.

Zeolite is an aluminosilicate mineral that helps improve soil quality by holding on to minerals in the soil and preventing valuable minerals in the soil from leeching out, and allows slow and appropriate release of minerals into the soil.
Your fruit goals sound Wonderful ♥
I use liquid seaweed as a good addition to the soil, also some ‘worm juice’ from a friend’s worm farm.

    I want my Mamay!
I’ve just had 2 in my life, but they made quite an impression, I can tell you.
I got em from a small farmers market vendor on Kauai. She could tell I and my family were serious fruit shoppers (I think something about the flat of $3per mangos we got tipped her off)
She called me to the side of her van and showed me these dense orange beauties like it was some clandestine deal. Their reputation alone meant I had to have them! Pays to know the people with the “good stuff” :)
